How a match works

Every league match goes through the same six stages. The site always shows which one you are on and leads you to the next.

  • Queue
    What you do
You join solo or with a party (up to 3 people).
    What the site does
Picks 6 players with the closest ELO and splits them so the team average ELO is as close as possible.
    Limit and effect
    —
  • Accept
    What you do
You click “Accept” in the match window.
    What the site does
Waits until all six players accept.
    Limit and effect
30 sno accept: queue ban 5 min, 0 ELO
  • Draft
    What you do
You vote on your team's bans and pick your own hero.
    What the site does
Draws which team starts and the player order; enforces time and order.
    Limit and effect
    pick 30 s + 15 s team pool, ban vote 30 s
  • Lobby code
    What you do
In the game you set CUSTOM, 3V3 and LABS: CRUCIBLE, and the code from this page is entered in the CUSTOM MATCH KEY field (steps in the guide).
    What the site does
Generates the code, shows it only to the match players and counts down the time.
    Limit and effect
    5 minno start: match cancelled
  • Game
    What you do
You play the hero from the draft. You may swap within the team.
    What the site does
Nothing: the match is played in the game.
    Limit and effect
    —
  • Result and ELO
    What you do
    Nothing, just finish the match.
    What the site does
Finds the match on pred.gg (started after the draft, same six players), checks the heroes and calculates ELO.
    Limit and effect
    after sync
Region

Until the beta only the Europe region is supported: all lobby players must be in the same region.

How to join a match

ELO and tiers

Everyone starts with 1,000 ELO. A win in an even match gives about +25, a loss takes about −25. Beating a stronger team gives more and losing to it costs less, because we compare the average ELO of both teams.

Calibration

Your first 10 matches count double (about ±40). Until calibration ends you see “Calibration 3/10” instead of a tier.

Demotion shield

You drop to a lower tier only 15 ELO below the threshold. Promotion applies as soon as you reach the threshold.

Crimson Apex

Tier VII requires 1,700 ELO and a place in the Top 9.

You have 1,112

Obsidian IV, 12 ELO above the threshold.

Loss −24: 1,088

Still Obsidian: the shield holds down to 1,085.

Next loss −25: 1,063

Drop to Ember III. Back to Obsidian from 1,100.

ExampleThe numbers in the three cards above are an example of the demotion shield, not your ELO.

Draft

The league has one fixed draft format: 3v3, 3 bans per team, bans by majority vote, every player picks their own hero. There are no captains or dice rolls: the server draws which team starts and the player order, and the lobby shows it right away.

A Team AB Team Bdashed outline: ban (vote)solid outline: pick by player no. 1–3

Bans: voting

In a ban slot the whole team votes at once (30 s) and you see teammates' votes live. The hero with the most votes wins, ties are drawn among the voted heroes, and with no votes the slot stays empty. You can also vote “skip”.

Picks: everyone for themselves

Team pick no. 1, 2, 3 belongs to the player with that number. You have 30 s plus a shared team pool of 15 s. If time runs out the match is cancelled (like leaving the draft).

One hero, once

A banned or picked hero is removed from the pool for both teams until the end of the draft.

Swapping within the team

In the game you may swap heroes within your team. What counts is the team's set of heroes, not who played whom.

Penalties and conduct

The server applies penalties automatically. You see each one in your league profile with the reason, date and time left on the ban.

Penalties apply only to the person who broke the rules.

Someone breaks the draft rules

If someone plays a different hero than drafted, you do not have to suffer through the whole match. Do what is below and the Crimson Legion admins will handle the rest.

  1. Step 1

    You notice a mismatched pick

Someone plays a different hero than the one from the draft. Swapping heroes within a team is not a violation.

  2. Step 2

You can surrender after 5 minutes

The opposing team does not have to play on: calmly surrender the match in the game after minute 5.

  3. Step 3

Honest players do not lose ELO

After the match the site detects the mismatch. If the honest team surrendered or the offending team won: 0 ELO for the honest players. If the offending team lost: the honest team's win counts normally.

  4. Step 4

    Report a player

In the match details click “Report a player” and add what happened. We attach the evidence ourselves.

  5. Step 5

    Admins review the evidence

The draft log (bans, picks, votes with times) and the match data from pred.gg.

  6. Step 6

    Only the offender is penalised

Honest players who picked heroes according to the draft cannot be penalised.

Disputes and voided matches

We check draft compliance by the team's set of heroes: after the match the set played must equal the set drafted.

Compliant: swap within the team

Draft

  • Kira
  • Narbash
Played
  • Kira
  • Gideon
  • Narbash

The players swapped heroes. The match counts normally.

Non-compliant: hero outside the draft

Draft
  • Sevarog
  • Kira
  • Muriel
Played
  • Sevarog
  • Murdock
  • Muriel

Murdock was not in the draft. The match is voided and the offender is penalised.

Match cancelled

When: Someone left the draft or the match did not start within 5 min.

What next: 0 ELO; only the person who left is penalised. With no clear offender: review.

You do not see a result

When: The match has not appeared on pred.gg yet.

What next: We look for a match that started after the draft with the same six players. If it takes long, click “Report a problem” in the match details.

Result dispute

When: “Report a problem” in the match details, with a description.

What next: Admins compare the draft log with the pred.gg data; the match ELO waits for a decision for up to 24 h.

You will see the admin decision in the app. We handle disputes within 12 h.

Season 0 · Beta

The league starts as Season 0: a test season and the official beta. We play for the ranking for real, but the rules are still being tuned. Four things worth knowing:

Test season

Season 0 runs from the league launch until the 1.0 release.

Results and ELO count normally

Matches, ELO and tiers count just like in any season.

Parameters may change

K, penalties and thresholds may be adjusted. We announce changes in the app and on Discord.

Season 1 starts with 1.0

Season 1 starts with the official 1.0 with a soft reset. The season length will be announced.

Seasons

The league plays in seasons. The ranking, Top 9 and tiers count separately in every season, and earlier results stay in the archive.

  • Season 0

Runs until the 1.0 release. We will announce the date in the app and on Discord.
  • End of season

The queue closes, and the final table and Top 9 go to the archive (season picker in the ranking).
  • Season 1

Starts with the official 1.0. ELO is moved towards 1,000 (soft reset). The season length will be announced.
